Presentation

Hi everybody, we are Oriol, Marc and Lluís and we have made this blog to talk about ecology, because we think it is an important theme which people do not usually know it's importance.

The presents of street lights substantialy change the ecology of ground-dwelling invertebrates and insects.

They report in biology letters that invertebrate predators and scavengers were more common near the lights even during the day.
The team found in general that a higher number of animals were trapped near the lights.
The melting of the ice caps makes the global warming increases its effect.

The ice caps act like a reflector and reflect more sunlight than the oceans, making the Earth's temperature decreases.
The continuous melting of the ice caps is making them to melt and less sunlight is reflected so it makes the temperature to rise increasing the melting and the global warming, it is like a vicious circle.

The national oceanic and atmospheric administration announced in November a proposal to list 66 choral species into the endangered species act of 1973.

Climate change and ocean acidification are the primal threats to ch oral species. They are loosing the algae that makes their color and their are pushing this species to the decline.

The greenhouse effect is accelerating the global water cycle almost twice the rate predicted by climate change models.

Global climate models predict that as the globe warms, this will heat the lower atmosphere and enable it to hold more moisture, thus speeding up the global water cycle. This is like the rich getting richer while the poor is getting poorer, but with dry and wet areas.
Global warming increases salinity too, because the more rain that falls in the oceans, the more freshwater dilutes out salinity, the more evaporation there is, the higher the ocean’s salinity.

People trapped by rising floodwaters in Bundaberg, Australia are being rescued by helicopter crews.

Many people are trapped on roofs, but there are fears that homes could be washed away by fast-moving waters after the Burnett river burst its banks. Three peoploe have already died in the flooding after a cyclone.
At least 1200 properties have flooded and about 1500 people could still be in need of rescue.
